切り張り接着モールド、安物高速量産、ハイテク工業製品化・低落の時代に
ハイテク工業化で無機質化していくモノカルチャー生活環境の現在では、ミッドセンチュリーモダンデザインの多くは復刻されたり応用しており、古びてはいない。むしろ材質や品質は高く、往年の完成度を超えられないというのが実感です。新作デザインセレクションは、建築・家具設計・製作、インテリアデザイナー・デコレーターにはアイデアソース、参考図書として利用されてきました。
自然素材がなくなり、無機質化学合成材料に囲まれて生活するようになりました。木目はインク顔料でプリントされ、合成塩ビ化粧シートや接着剤で固めるボードに覆われています。ものつくりはデジタル自動機械加工され、すっかりイミテーションマテリアルに替わりました。電磁波シャワーを浴び、感覚不全、感性荒れるギーなどの生体反応は起きているようです。
目と手が行き届くクラフツスタイル 確かな造り込み・工房手法への再帰へ
手間ヒマを嫌い、CAD・ロボット製造に置きかえて省力効率化されると、作りの温かみや見栄え、心地良い雰囲気は削ぎ落とされます。本来、工芸・装飾品はハンドワークの工房手法から生まれたものでした。身近な素材を使い、手仕事で安全性やデザイン品質を現代では工業化されて工場生産のデザイン企業が担いますが、ワークショップによるアートクラフツ志向の際に制作できるデザイナークラフトマンが活躍するようになりました。
